I finally made it to Houston to apply for my VISA. This trip has been postponed three times because of delays with my paperwork in France. My sister and I made a fun weekend out of it. We left on Thursday after I got off work and somehow managed not to get into a hotel room until 11:30pm. On our way we saw something quite odd. We saw a car covered in Legos. Yes people, legos. Apparently she is a Cow Goddess.

We stopped in Huntsville on our way to surprised our Aunt Pat at her office. We went to a steakhouse for some good dinner. Then we tried to leave, but this cute little birdie kept getting under our car and wouldn't move. He was so cute and helpless. He wanted to fly away from us, but couldn't. We scared him with our cameras. I have never seen a little baby Blue Jay

On to Houston we went. We tried some hotels around the Galleria, near the French Consulate, but the prices were astronomical. This girl wouldn't take that. After checking with around ten hotels, we headed south towards Reliant Stadium. The Best Western was like a beacon in the night. We scored a NICE but cheap room. After all the rain and stress from finding a bed to sleep in that night, Paula and I decided that we could use some candy and cokes to feed our nerves. Then we went NUTS playing with the Mac Photo Booth. We didn't get to bed till 2:30am or so.

The next morning came too soon, but we actually managed to be on time for my appointment. Not without stress though. Twenty minutes after arriving, I am official. I have my VISA!

On to Spring and Tomball to visit my sister's dad and grandpa. Oh what a great time! Paula's dad is a pilot and lives in an airplane hanger at a small airport in Spring. He is in the process of building his own plane and only two months out from being done. We had some great seafood before heading over to her Grandpa Ty's house. Get this, Grandpa was one of the pilots that dropped a bomb on Japan after Pearl Harbor. What history! Grandpa had a wonderful garden with cabbage, radishes, green beans, tomatoes, and beets. I was inspired!.

We had a late start heading back home, so we grabbed a hotel in Conroe. It was actually Paula and Casey's 5 year wedding anniversary. I figured we should celebrate it! And yes, my "drink" of choice is champagne. We went to the nearest H-E-B and grabbed the drinks, chocolate covered strawberries, and Almond Joy bars. Our hotel had a hot tub, which we enjoyed for 30 minutes before coming back to our suite with our own Jacuzzi and king size bed. Oh what fun! We upped the anty from cokes and a single candy bar to lots of candy and wine and champagne. This is what sisters are good for :)

After a tiring, yet wonderfully fun-filled weekend, it was time to go back home. We couldn't leave without our complimentary La Quinta waffles, Texas-style. Oh how I am going to miss this state!

I love you sister! I couldn't have asked for a better time. I will miss you!
